EntrepreneurOnFire is a daily podcast, hosted by John Lee Dumas, interviewing today’s most successful and inspiring
entrepreneurs. Since our launch in September of 2012, we’ve had the pleasure of featuring entrepreneurs like Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, Barbara Corcoran, Tim Ferriss and over 200 more.
During the 30ish-minute interviews, the spotlighted entrepreneur tells us about their journey, sharing early failures, AHA moments, and providing insights about the techniques that are working for them right now. Each show wraps with a five-question “Lightning Round” that pulls priceless nuggets of information from these successful Entrepreneurs, encouraging listeners and fans to take action.
EntrepreneurOnFire is all about Inspiring Millions. We hope you’ll find the inspiration you’re looking for to launch into your own entrepreneurial journey right here.

Our journey
Hey, John Lee Dumas here, Host and Founder of EntrepreneurOnFire.
Sure, I may be an Entrepreneur now, but I haven’t always been one. Here’s a little background on how I came up with the idea to launch a daily podcast, and also how I’m directing all my passion and energy towards fulfilling EntrepreneurOnFIre’s goal of Inspiring Millions.
The day I graduated…
The day I graduated from Providence College, I was commissioned as an Officer in the US Army. After a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq as an Armor platoon leader (Tanks!), I served for seven more years in the States – three active, and four in the reserves. After the Army, I set out to do what I was “supposed to do”: find a J.O.B.
I tried law school first. One semester was all I needed to realize law was not my calling. I then headed to Boston, where I accepted my first corporate job working in finance at John Hancock. After a couple of years, I decided to see what the Big Apple had to offer. There, I worked for a tech start-up company and enjoyed all the Concrete Jungle had to offer. But I still hadn’t quite found what I was looking for. This time, I traveled far and wide in search of passion, and I landed in San Diego, California.
My introduction to Podcasts
Once in San Diego, I started working in Real Estate. Sure, I guess you could say I had a passion for Real Estate, but I think it may have been even more so that I was in the right place at the right time (think 2009 real estate market).
I quickly found that driving would be a big part of my daily routine, and I was in need of something that could help me pass the time spent in the car. A friend of mine suggested that I listen to podcasts, to which I responded, “huh?” I did some research, and it turned out I thought podcasts were pretty cool. Free, engaging content that I could get on demand: heck yeah!
I listened to mainstream stuff at first, like NPR. Then, I started exploring others like Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income and Cliff Ravenscraft’s Podcast Answer Man.
My AHA moment
It was when I started dabbling in the “other stuff” that I realized something big: there are so many great podcasts out there, but none that offer daily content. I was zipping through months of content in a single week, and I knew that if I were experiencing this problem, chances are others were, too.
I knew that I loved listening to interviews, and I also loved hearing about Entrepreneurs who had “made it” in their niche. I had this thought that perhaps I could create a podcast that interviewed Entrepreneurs, and through telling each Entrepreneur’s journey, inspire others out there who were looking to take their own Entrepreneurial leap. Enter: EntrepreneurOnFire.
Once I started…
Once I started working on EntrepreneurOnFire, there was no turning back. I was thoroughly enjoying every second of every day. Creating targeted, relevant content on a daily basis was feeding a passion so hungry that I couldn’t stop. I started waking up earlier each day, and working 12 hours without even noticing. My goal was to provide as much value as possible and hopefully gain followers and fans that were benefiting from the content I was providing.
Before I knew it, I had actually started building that amazing community of like-minded people who supported my vision, and who were finding value in the content I’m providing (that’s you, Fire Nation!)
I launched in late September, 2012, and still, every time I receive a “thank you” email, or a new subscriber, or another review in iTunes telling me that EntrepreneurOnFire has touched someone’s life – that they’ve been inspired by the interviewees and by the episodes they’re listening to – I can’t help but smile and think, I’m so lucky to be doing what I love.
Meet the Team
Hello! Kate Erickson here, Content Creator for EntrepreneurOnFire. I recently left my 9-5 (well, it was actually more like an 8-8) at an
Advertising Agency to put my skills and expertise in writing and marketing to work – without someone else dictating my every move.
I started exploring marketing and advertising about ten years ago, and once I had learned the tricks of the trade, I found myself slaving away for clients and receiving little in return. But I loved what I was doing. One day I thought to myself, if only I could do what I love and still go home at the end of the day feeling like I’ve actually helped someone.
When I first learned of John’s vision to create a daily podcast interviewing today’s most successful and inspiring Entrepreneurs, I cheered him on from the sidelines and was his biggest fan. Over the past year, I’ve consistently followed and been in close touch with each step he’s taken towards building an incredible audience and providing inspiring and encouraging content every single day. I couldn’t be more excited about helping him create content that will provide meaning and value to those who are consuming it.
