Hi! John Lee Dumas here, founder and host of EntrepreneurOnFire, where I interview today’s most successful and inspiring Entrepreneurs 7-days a week.
EntrepreneurOnFire was awarded Best Of iTunes in 2013 because of our dedication to serve you and share incredible insights to help guide your Entrepreneurial journey.
My mission is to inspire and guide YOU, the listener, with the wisdom garnered from Entrepreneurs who have achieved success.
Failure is part of every journey, and on EntrepreneurOnFire, the first story we share is our guest’s biggest failure and their lessons learned.
The second story we delve into is our guests’ great AH-HA moment and the steps they took to turn this moment into success.
The grand finale is THE LIGHTNING ROUND, where I ask five rapid fire questions to extract nuggets of wisdom for Fire Nation.
EntrepreneurOnFire is all about inspiring YOU to take YOUR entrepreneurial leap. We know that by hearing the failures, AH-HA moments, and successes of others, you can begin to craft your dream and take inspired ACTION!

I may be an Entrepreneur now, but I haven’t always been one. Here’s a little background on how I came up with the idea to launch a daily podcast, and also how I’m directing all my passion and energy in reaching EntrepreneurOnFire’s goal of Inspiring Millions.
The day I graduated…
The day I graduated from Providence College, I was commissioned as an Officer in the US Army. After a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq as an Armor Platoon Leader (Tanks), I served for seven more years in the States – three active, and four in the reserves. After the Army, I set out to do what I was ‘supposed to do’…find a J.O.B.
I tried Law School first. One semester was all I needed to realize law was not my calling. I then headed to Boston, where I accepted my first corporate job working in finance at John Hancock. After 18 months, I quit and decided to see what the Big Apple had to offer. There, I worked for a tech start-up company and enjoyed all the Concrete Jungle had to offer. But I still hadn’t quite found what I was looking for. This time, I traveled far and wide in search of passion, and I landed in San Diego, California.
My introduction to Podcasts
Once in San Diego, I started working in Real Estate. With my great timing (think 2009 real estate market), I had to get quite inventive to make a buck, and this is where the Entrepreneurial outside the box thinking started.
I quickly found that driving would be a big part of my daily routine, and I was in need of something that could help me pass the time spent in the car. A friend of mine suggested that I listen to Podcasts, to which I responded, “huh?” I did some research, and it turned out Podcasts were pretty cool. Free, targeted, on demand content? Heck yeah!
I listened to mainstream stuff at first, like NPR. Then, I started exploring other shows like Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income and Cliff Ravenscraft’s Podcast Answer Man.
My AHA moment
It was when I started dabbling in the smaller shows that I realized something big. There are so many great podcasts out there, but none that offer daily content. With these once a week shows, I was zipping through years of content in mere days, and I knew if I was experiencing this problem, others were too.
I knew that I loved listening to interviews, and I also loved learning how Entrepreneurs had succeeded in their niche. A concept of what I considered a perfect show began to form. A show that would tell the STORY of the featured Entrepreneur. Their failure, lessons learned. Their AH-HA moment, and steps taken to turn that moment into success, and a Lightning round of questions each more interesting than the last. I sat down and created my perfect listener (Jimmy in the video above) and then crafted the perfect show for that perfect listener. Enter: EntrepreneurOnFire.
Once I started…
Once I committed to EntrepreneurOnFire, there was no turning back. I was thoroughly enjoying every second of every day. Creating targeted, relevant content on a daily basis was feeding a passion with an endless appetite. I started waking up earlier each day, and working 12-hours without even noticing.
My goal was to provide as much value as possible and hopefully gain followers and fans that were benefiting from the content I was providing.
The Podcast launched on September 22nd, 2012, and I followed my recipes ingredients:
- Valuable Content
- Consistent Content
- Free Content
Before long a community began to form that I lovingly refer to as Fire Nation. Our community has guided me ever since, and is the inspiration behind our two flagship products: Podcasters’ Paradise and Webinar On Fire!
Meet the Team!
Hello! Kate Erickson here, Content Creator and Community Manager for EntrepreneurOnFire. I recently left my 9-5 (well, it was actually more like an 8-8) at an Advertising Agency to put my skills and expertise in writing and marketing to work – without someone else dictating my every move.
I started exploring marketing and advertising about ten years ago, and once I had learned the tricks of the trade, I found myself slaving away for clients and receiving little in return. But I loved what I was doing. One day I thought to myself, if only I could do what I love and still go home at the end of the day feeling like I’ve actually helped someone.
When I first learned of John’s vision to create a daily podcast interviewing today’s most successful and inspiring Entrepreneurs, I cheered him on from the sidelines and was his biggest fan. Over the past year, I’ve consistently followed and been in close touch with each step he’s taken towards building an incredible audience and providing inspiring and encouraging content every single day. I couldn’t be more excited about helping him create content that will provide meaning and value to those who are consuming it.
EntrepreneurOnFire.com: Our headquarters
We post show notes from every podcast, which will include links and references to everything of importance discussed during the interview. So don’t worry if you heard a success quote or a great business book recommendation during an episode and don’t quite remember what it was. You can find all of that linked up in the show notes for quick and easy access.
Regardless of where you are on your entrepreneurial journey, our blog aims to equip you with the right tools, tips and resources to help you every step of the way. Starting in September of 2013, we’ve been publishing our Monthly Income Report to share what we’ve been working on and what our income and expenses looked like for that month.
Our Resources page was built with you in mind. This is where you can find descriptions and links to the products and resources EntrepreneurOnFire recommends.
